How do you know if you really should apply for that job?

How do you know if you really should apply for that job?
Knowing all the skills mentioned in a job description might be, what you think is the right way to apply for a job.
However, learning on the job and acquiring new skills is more meaningful for your personal growth and success.
When it comes to entry level jobs, your future employers might go beyond what you’ve studied and use methods that you haven’t learnt but that shouldn’t stop you from applying for the job. You might be aiming too low if you are looking at a job that you are overqualified for. Employers often seek candidates who aim at growing into a position, who are ready to make mistakes and learn new skills. That is why it is important to look for something that expands your spectrum of learning, and not something that you already know really well.

There are, however, advantages to applying for a job you’re overqualified for. It is a good way to prove your skills to an employer and get instant results, but that might lead to your career becoming stagnant. New challenges always result in new learning and new skills.
People often have a mindset that they might not deserve the position they have risen to and if others got to know how unqualified they are for the position; they might lose the job. However, this might just be an illusion because you never truly know how many people had also learnt several new skills on the job.
It is important to regard new positions and skills as a challenge which will eventually lead to growth. Not being able to work on difficult tasks shouldn’t be taken as lack of talent, but it should be taken as lack of skills, which can be obtained eventually.
The next time you apply for a job, don’t look at the job description as a strict set of requirements, instead look at it as a set of basic guidelines and a learning curve to prepare you for growth and success.
